Las Fragas del Eume son el bosque atlántico costero mejor conservado de Europa. The Fragas of the forest are Eume atl á ntico coastal best preserved of Europe. Encajado en el profundo cañón que el río Eume labró con el paso del tiempo, es uno de los tesoros botánicos de Galicia y de la península Ibérica, ya que alberga algunas especies de helechos casi exclusivas, que únicamente se pueden encontrar en muy contados enclaves de nuestra geografía. Embedded in the deep river canyon that Eume labró with the passage of time, is one of the botanical treasures of Galicia and the Iberian Peninsula, already hosting some species of ferns almost exclusive, which can be found only in very few enclaves our geography. Sólo por esto es merecedor de ser una Zona de Especial Protección de los Valores Naturales. Just for this is worthy of being a Special Protection Area of Natural Values.
Estamos en un espeso bosque de robles, castaños, avellanos, fresnos, adedules, madroños... Colores por todos lados. Colors everywhere. Los robles cubren los laderas que ascienden hacia lo alto, y al borde del río un imponente bosque de galería acompaña el ir del auga camino del mar. El paso del hombre por el bosque de frondosas a lo largo de la historia se evidencia en los restos que están repartidos por el parque: varios túmulos y castros, los monasterios de San Xoán de Caaveiro y Santa María de Monfero , o la Torre de los Andrade .
